摘要

Salinity and draught are two major abiotic factors reducing plant productivity and quality .High salinity disturbs intracellular ion homeostasis, leads to cell membrane dam-age. disrupts the metabolic activity, and thus finally causes growth inhibition even plant death.To cope with these stresses. plantshave developed various adaptation mechanisms, one of those is to compartmentalize Na+ into the vacuoleto reduce the deleterious effects of excess Na+in the cytosol and to maintain osmotic balance using IVa+as a beneficial osmoregulation substance, thus further enhancing water uptake and salt tolerance ofplants.
