Parapaleomerus sinensis Hou et al.,1999,a rare trilobitomorph arthropod, was first reported on the basis of a few specimens from the Lower Cambrian (Series 2,Stage 3) Chengjiang biota, southern China. However, details about its cephalic components, ventral structures, feeding, locomotion, and phylogenetic position has remained obscure.Previously it was compared to Paleomerus as well as other taxa assigned to Aglaspida. Our findings from new material (36 specimens) reveal hitherto unknown anatomies.
