This paper presents the capacity performance study of a downlink wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA)network system.The characteristics of the packet-switched data traffic simulating internet Web browsing and their effects on the capacity of downlink WCDMA network are investigated.The system level simulations are performed using a model based on the release 4 configuration of the 3rd Generation Parmership Project technical specification.The results indicate that the system capacity performance Call be dramatically degraded by the seN-similar properties of the data traffic.
