Results of numerous flight tests of PFPrn(perfluorocarbon polymer) films and laboratoryrnexperiments with them are often in some discrepancyrnand sometimes in direct contradiction with each other.rnBecause of this, conclusions based on these results arernvery diverse: in LEO (low-Earth orbit) conditions,rnmass losses are determined mainly by: a) FAO (fastrnatomic oxygen) bombardment, b) VUV (vacuumrnultraviolet) component of solar radiation, c) synergismrnof these two factors, d) their concurrency. Previously,rnwe showed that all principal features of PFPrndestruction both in real LEO condition and inrnsimulated laboratory conditions can be explained onrnthe basis of evaporation (sublimation) model of PFPrndestruction by VUV radiation, without any significantrnparticipation of FAO. Here, the main reasons that canrnbe responsible for seeming contradictory and oppositernresults of flight and laboratory tests will be considered.
