within the last few years, sophisticated electronics technology has per-mitted the design and manufacture of compact, powerful, and accurate instruments for measuring the transportation environment. This paper focuses on those devices that typically measure shock, vibration, temperature, and humidity, and explains their principles of operation in easy-to-understand terms. It discusses the proper applications, the limiations and pitfalls, and meaningful presentation of the data.
