This study performed a life cycle analysis on eight dfferent types of nestable pallets. The pallets were made form wood and plastic. The performance of the pallets was compared based on number of trips without damage, cost, weight, and environmental considerations. A pallet peformance coefficient was developed to compare the different pallet ytpes. The results showed that the twin sheet thermo-formed HDPE plastic pallets showed the best performance followed by the structural foam HDPE pallets. The presswood pallets showed the poorest performance.
