摘要

Rikuzentakata, Japan is facing a problem related to the inheritance of local historical culture after the earthquake and tsunami of 2011.In the present study, two methods are usedto solve the problem.The first method identifies the lessons of natural disasters and their effects on history bysetring up a particular Related Cultural Property Group(RCPG)with a focus on disaster history in order to research, preserve, and utilize the involved historical and cultural resources as a whole, taking advantage of the spotlight following a natural disasterto improve the inheritance of historical culture and the reconstruction of the city.The second method focuses oncoordinating the strategies with the post-disaster reconstruction planning, which enhances the feasibility and the efficiency of these strategies while avoiding the adverse outcomes of ignoring the historical culture as is often seen in theexcessive pursuit of reconstruction efficiency.This research provided a possibility for similar cases in throughout East Asian.
