Embedded control systems have become necessities in modern electric and hybrid electric vehiclesrn(EHEVs). They manage batteries, control powertrains, and assure the comfort of passengers. Thernemergence of vehicle networking has provided for the possibility of distributed architectures forrncontrol of these vehicle functions. Different distributed control system architectures offer varyingrnbenefits and liabilities in the product design of EHEVs. This paper explores various architecturalrndesigns and how they impact the vehicle design.
