In May 2000, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) launched EVs for Education. Through thisrnprogram, electric vehicles (EVs) are provided to local air pollution control districts and educators to usernfor educational purposes. EVs for Education provides an excellent opportunity to inform kids about newrnadvanced technologies and the environmental impacts of transportation. In addition to exposing childrenrnto these technologies, it increases the amount of information being disseminated to parents and schoolrnadministrations.rnEVs for Education allows CARB to reach a larger number of students with the EVs it has available forrneducational and demonstration purposes. The goals of the EVs for Education program are to 1) Educaternstudents on the value of clean air and the benefits of cleaner transportation technologies such as EVs. 2)rnEmphasize the connection between transportation and air pollution. 3) Show students what they can do tornreduce air pollution; and 4) Foster the development of presentations and materials that help achieve thernabove goals. To date, EVs for Education has been very effective in achieving all of its goals.
