Both the length of travel time and the variation of travel time should be consideredrnby determining the better travel path for getting destination reliably. The variation ofrntravel time will affect the reliability of path, and it should be involved into thernsearching criterion for travel path between two ends of trip. The researchrndemonstrates the time-dependent nature of travel time and identifies the distributionrnof travel time by a survey of travel time and also establishes a method of deriving thernreliability of travel time by adding the distribution of expected travel time to thernmodel of finding the reliability of travel time and using Monte Carlo simulationrntechnique to search the reliable path. The study applies the multi-distribution methodrnto deal with the stochastic and time-dependent nature of travel time, and deriving therntravel time reliability of path by simulating path by path. An algorithm integrating thernK-shortest path algorithm and path travel time reliability calculation is subsequentlyrnproposed to search the most reliable path of the paths which perform better in thernproperty of expected travel time for proposed path.
