The purpose of this paper is to give examples of how to list harmonics and of the basic calculations used in IEEE 51-1992, ANSI/IEEE C57.110, and other standards. Examples are included of total RMS value, Harmonic content, Harmonic factor, Distortion factor, Harmonic Distortion Factor, Total Harmonic Distortion, K-Factor, and Telephone Influence factor. The ANSI C57.110 procedure for derating a standard transformer for harmonic load, and the Fourier-Euler method for calculation of the harmonic content (frequency domain) from wave samples (time domain) are also explained.
