摘要

The State of Texas offers two programs which offer recycling and disposal options because citizens from rural areas have difficulty finding recycling or disposal options for rural wastes since most outlets for these materials are located in urban areas. These programs are the Agricultural Waste Pesticide and the Texas Country Cleanup. To add to the challenge, the agricultural community generates specific types of wastes that are not accepted at landfills. These wastes include oil, oil filters, lead acid batteries, barbed wire metal, ag film, poly pipe, waste tires, properly rinsed empty plastic pesticide containers and pesticides. Initially, these programs were conducted as separate collection events but as they expanded, and citizens became familiar with each collection, the programs were combined into a simultaneous event, occurring 10-13 times annually.
