摘要

The Waste Watch Center (WWC) in collaboration with industry, local and state government, has established the first curbside used motor oil collection program in New England. Curbside collection of used motor oil has proved a very effective method for reducing the improper disposal of used motor oil by Do-It-Yourselfers. Despite the success of curbside collection programs, they are not proliferating particularly rapidly within the U.S., aside from California, Washington and a few other states. One of the reasons adoption of these programs has been very slow is because they are very challenging to establish. WWC has identified a successful process for establishing such programs in the Northeast and potential pitfalls.
