摘要

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has provided household hazardous waste (HHW) collection events in communities across Oregon since 1991. DEQ's HHW Program has also produced and distributed educational materials, offered limited grants for local HHW programs, and conducted a pilot program for retail take-back of paint. The purpose of this Household Hazardous Waste Management Plan ("Plan") is to set the direction for DEQ's HHW Program for the immediate future, including the six fiscal years beginning July 1999 and ending June 2005. The Plan assumes no change in the HHW Program's level of funding ($800,000 per biennium), staffing (1 FTE and regional Technical Assistants) and geographic service area (all of Oregon outside the Metro region). The goals, priorities and activities outlined in this Plan were developed after examining options used elsewhere in the country and soliciting input from various Oregon stakeholders, including many local government representatives. Out of this process DEQ has identified a primary goal, strategies to achieve the goal, and several new programs to implement the goal.
