Practical operational aspects of several current two wire formers are reviewed particularly with respect to their inherent drainage and retention characteristics as they apply principally to the production of lightweight, single-ply papers. The influence these top wire hybrids and twin wire gap formers have on sheet physical properties, including formation, is also discussed.
