Recent investigations into the use of non-toxic propellants for launcher propulsion show the potential to satisfy the market's performance and cost requirements. The main expected advantages are reduced handling effort and reduced safety precautions.rnSystem studies to identify the best non-toxic propellants have been performed. The chamber cooling performance was assessed regarding limitations by propellant dissociation and coking. Advantageous propulsion system configurations were investigated.rnMajor applications seen today are expendable liquid boosters, and reusable liquid flyback boosters. Booster concepts have been investigated for various non-toxic propellant and engine system combinations. Dimensions and performance are compared.
