Liquid Booster concepts have been investigated for several applications in order to replace the currently wide-spread solid boosters [1],[2],[3],[4],[5]rnThe use of the LOX-Kerosene and LOX CH4 liquid boosters for the Ariane 5E+ is investigated as a replacement for the existing P230 solid rocket boosters. This paper discusses booster engine concepts which could be used in a new Ariane 5 configuration. The performance of the LOX-Kerosene and LOX-CH4 propellants were compared and their impact on the liquid booster configuration has been analyzed. The paper includes a comparison of geometry and mass, as well as ascent performance data of the different liquid booster configurations.
