By developing the formula of the synthesis of two jets was developed, the mathematical model of air jet flow field of melt blowing was founded. The reliability of the air jet flow field predicted by this model was confirmed by the experiment data cited from literature. The model prediction of fiber diameter using this formula coincided with that using the empirical formula put forward by Harpham and Shambaugh. The influences of the angle between the air flow and the axis of the spinneret, the width of the die head and the width of the slot on fiber diameter were discussed.
