Our series hybrid electric drivetrain configuration with a high voltage DC link and DC / DC converter allows testing of various power and energy storage systems for electric or hybrid electric application independent of their voltage level. Operation and reliability of the DC / DC converter have been proved. The control strategy for a series hybrid should relieve the storage battery from power peaks by using additional power stores and / or by realizing a multiple point strategy for the MGU. A modular and flexible test bed has been bui its setup allows the characterization of components (e.g. performance of batteries) as well as the development and optimization of various operational strategies.
