The modular test bench can be used for characterization of drive train components as well as performing duty cycles with complete drive trains. The applications are not restricted to hybrid drive trains and the test bench also accepts conventional and electric power trains. The equipment is foreseen for future technologies (e.g. fuel cells). The series hybrid drive train, with a drive train management aiming at minimal emissions, obtains a substantial emission reduction. The fuel consumption is not favoured by this type of drive train strategy, unless the vehicle (a delivery van) is only used in city traffic.
