Infrared spectroscopy is a common analytical technology in laboratories and recently finds morernand more applications as process measurement technique. Current developments based on Near-rnInfrared(NIR)-analysis aim for natural gas quality measurement. Since water vapour alsornexhibits very strong absorption in the IR-region, humidity might disturb these NIR-spectroscopicrntechniques by cross sensitivity to the other gas components. On the other hand the strong IRactivityrnof water vapour could be applied for a novel and economic humidity measurementrntechnology. In this work we present investigations on the disturbance of NIR gas analysis byrnhumidity and the evaluation of the sensitivity potential of NIR humidity measurement.
