The thermal protection against gas hydrate is reached by maintaining, during shut down, a mid level of temperature of the flowline or by heating the flowline before a start-up dissociating the gas hydrate.rnThe thermochemical transformer STIMP-CNRS allows to produce heat at 40°C with a surrounding at 4°C. The regeneration (refilling) is obtained with a temperature above 45°C. The feasibility study has been made for a small scale pilot. The results have been scale up to classical offshore systems. The duration of the cooldown with STIMP-CNRS associated with a poor thermal insulation can reach 24 to 36 hours for reactor volums in the same magnitude of the flowline volum. Those volums could be reduced by using a better insulation (but deficient if used alone) in order to obtain high duration of cool down.
