In Sapporo the range of an annual snowfall is from 400 to 600 cm and the average atmospheric temperature ranges from -4° to 0℃. The lowest temperature is about -10℃ in winter. The major services of the Hokkaido Gas Co. Ltd. are the distribution and sale of city gas. As well, we develop and sell equipment and systems that are suitable for the technology of using gas in a cold climate. This paper is about the research and development of a system to control the temperature of turf used for sporting purposes, and judgement of whether the snow from a fall has melted by using image analysis.
