摘要

A collaborative research project involving international gas companies has been carried out to improve the engineering design, structural modelling, construction and maintenance of buried pipelines. The emphasis was on the geotechnical aspects of soil/pipe interaction modelling. The research should lead to greater reliability and rigour in the design and integrity assessment of buried pipelines subjected to ground loading. The project included background technical review work, full-scale pipe loading tests, laboratory testing, soil constitutive model development and numerical modelling. This paper introduces the different aspects of the research programme and presents some of the pipe loading test results.
