摘要

A 3-dimensional, time-dependent, nonhomogeneous boundary-value problem of heat conduction with constant coefficients in a finite region is used to describe the heat transfer in a rectangular workpiece during peripheral milling under the presence/absence of cutting fluids. A least squares inverse heat transfer method employing this model is applied to estimate the rate of heat flow and heat fraction entering the workpiece during dry/wet milling. The heat fraction entering the workpiece varies between 28% and 46% under the examined cases. The convection coefficients during wet milling are estimated to be in the range of 2500 - 4000 W/m~2K.
