The Hyperdrive system can meet all of the functional and market requirements set forth at the beginning of this discussion for effectively reducing fuel consumption. 1. Substantially improved fuel economy 2. Maintains driving range 3. Equals or exceeds existing product segment competitive performance for acceleration and gradeability including maximum continuous speed and GCVW performance min-imums 4. Does not require any special fuels or service needs 5. Capable of meeting all existing and future exhaust emission standards 6. Is applicable to all passenger car and light truck segments 7. Is adaptable to existing vehicle architectures 8. Maintains and has the potential to improve overall safety 9. Volume cost is within 15% increase over conventional pow-ertrains The Hyperdrive can be implemented into high volume production rapidly in the next five years. This can be accomplished without extraordinary investment by the carmakers, without any need for new infrastructure. Mass production will not require ar y rare and expensive materials because the Hyperdrive utilizes components that are similar to current automotive products or ones similar to those used in other high volume industry applications. Lastly, a high efficiency control logic system and a power electronics system are appropriate in any modern powertrain configuration, and is required not only in any HEV system, but also if sometime in the future a cost effective and functionally acceptable hydrogen fuel cell or other alternate fuel system is to made available. In conclusion, we believe we have demonstrated that the Paice Hyperdrive meets all of the attributes required to be a market driven solution for substantial reduction of automotive fuel consumption. It requires no invention or any technical barriers and can be implemented rapidly into high volume production. It offers to the American car manufacturer, who is will- ing to take the lead, a profitable and socially responsible path to regaining market share worldwide. The Hyperdrive system is available to be implemented now and can serve the automobile industry for the next hundred years just as the internal combustion engine and the transmission have done for the last hundred years.
