摘要

A procedure for the design of a robust m-synthesis controller for active damping of flexible structures is presented.rn Well developed software tools allow to keep the main effort for controller synthesis on modelling thernstructure under consideration. However, controller synthesis still is more expensive than comparably simplerncontroller concepts which may be applied if actuator-sensor collocation is utilised. Since these concepts showrngood and robust performance together with unconditional stability, the question arises which advantages robustrncontroller synthesis can offer. To find an answer, the benefits and drawbacks of both methods are compared,rnand conclusions are drawn which help to decide which controller concept should be chosen for a given problemrnin dependence on performance and robustness requirements.
