The Yibal field is one of the cornerstones of Oman’s oilrnproduction, currently supplying ca. 12 % of the country’s dailyrnproduction. The Yibal field has been on production since 1969rnand reached peak production in 1997. Since then the field hasrnbeen experiencing a rapid decline. This paper discusses therncurrently ongoing activities to arrest this decline and to ensurernthat the value of the remaining producible volumes in thernYibal field is maximized using Shell’s ‘Volume-tornValue’ process.
