This paper presents a successful integration of sparselyrndistributed permeability data including core-derivedrnpermeability and welltest-derived permeability into a viablerngeocellular model of 3.96 million cells for a giant carbonaternreservoir. The resulting model required minimumrnpermeability modification to achieve a 40-year history match.rnFracture intensity trend was derived by carefully comparingrnthe curvature of the structure, detailed matrix permeability,rnand welltest-derived permeability. This approach, althoughrnintuitive, allows for a better and realistic characterization ofrnthis large reservoir in the absence of seismic and other fracturernidentification tools like image logs while preserving verticalrnand lateral variation in permeability. Moreover, the paperrnpresents statistical analysis of core-derived permeabilityrnillustrating lateral variation of permeability distribution.
