摘要

This paper is a study on the solution heat treatment of PM aluminum alloys combined with the sizing operation and the opportunities to improve both mechanical properties and accuracy taking profit of the particularities of the aluminum alloying systems. Aluminum parts are very ductile and accept sizing with an amount of material deformation beyond the established limits in ferrous PM. The sizing operation provides dimensional accuracy but associated to the material deformation, sizing improves also considerably the mechanical properties of aluminum parts. The paper presents examples of hardness and tensile strength improvement by means of a manufacturing process that includes both sizing and heat treatment.
