With both new and rebuilt paper machine speeds continuously increasing, winder suppliers are being challenged torndevelop new technologies that will address the production requirements of paper producers. In North America therernhas, and continues to be, a desire to maintain a one winder scenario. Todays winders must have the necessary toolsrnto set new performance benchmarks.rnThis paper discusses the level of winding technology available today and introduces new features designed tornaddress the increasing demands on winder performance.rnThe first section of this paper provides an update on multi-station winding for the most demanding windingrnapplications. The second section will introduce radical improvements in two-drum and belt-bed winding for higherrncapacity, and improved runnability.
