Wide-band CMOS Mixer Design Using Flexible Input Matching Method

This paper presents the wide-band CMOS mixer design for direct conversion receiver and simulation results using optimized flexible input matching method, so called L and C bank technique. Today a transceiver must accept many standards which is exiting or approaching at the future and be integrated in small area, so RF front-end supporting wide frequency band is very important. Adding input matching network to mixer core, the mixer can be operated from 2 GHz to 6 GHz and it accepts the WCDMA and 802.11a/b/g standard. Proposed flexible input matching technique leads to acceptable mixer performance in wide-band frequency. As a simulation result performed SpectreRF of Cadence, designed mixer get 7.5~15 dB voltage gain and NF from 10 dB to 15 dB with 4.8 mA current consumption.
