Much of this nation's infrastructure is very deteriorated and requires significant updatingrnin order to maintain service levels. Included in this widespread need is the vast networkrnof sanitary sewers. Since these pipelines are almost exclusively underground, directrnreplacement by open cut methods would likely be cost prohibitive as well as veryrndisruptive to surface activities. For these reasons, several in-place renewal techniquesrnhave been developed to rehabilitate sewer lines with minimal excavation. One suchrnmethod is lining the existing host pipe with a new, factory-made, slightly smaller pipe.rnThis process is called sliplining.
