Recent regulatory EPA clarifications give refinery managers new opportunities to boostrnproductivity and lower environmental risk by selling off-spec oil to an outside reclaimer. Thisrnpaper describes the risks associated with rerun processing and highlights an innovativerntransaction opportunity that, by removing off-spec oil from the refinery stream, allows refineriesrnto reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs, increase time between turnaround forrntanks and units, extend the life of catalysts, and reduce waste-disposal liabilities and costs.
