摘要

This study is aimed to explore the personalityrelated factors and dynamics of psychological wellbeing and relevant factors of suicide ideation among Chinese graduate students. Scales for personality, general psychological well-being status, depression and attitude towards suicide were administered to 21702 graduate students in the national research institutions. Multivariate regression was used for data analysis. The results of this study indicated that the percentage of psychological distress for graduate students is about 6.8%, the overall prevalence of suicide ideation among graduated students is about 1.78%. The most risky personality factors for psychological distress are tension, insecurity, emotional instability and suspiciousness in sequences. The regression coefficients of general mental health status, depression level and attitude to suicide were all significant, and personality factor as a unified variable was significantly related to suicide ideation too. The implications of the results for higher education are also discussed in this paper
