Tops?e has in recent years emerged as one of the leading suppliers of high activity catalysts for high severityrndemanding hydroprocessing services. In late 2003, Tops?e introduced the first catalyst based on a new productionrntechnique that we called BRIM? Technology. Tops?e's BRIM? catalysts were quickly accepted by the industry andrnare today widely considered to be the leading technology.rnNow five years after the introduction of BRIM?, we are pleased to announce the introduction of the first BRIM?rncatalysts made with an improved production technology. One of the focal points in our research at Tops?e intornimproved BRIM? hydroprocessing catalysts is to increase the dispersion of the active species on the carrier surface.rnBy improving dispersion, the number of sites for a given metals loading is increased, resulting in higher catalystrnactivity. Increasing the activity even further is achieved by putting more metals into the catalyst. The full effect ofrnadding more metals is not achieved, unless the metals can be well dispersed, i.e. improving dispersion results in arnnumber of benefits.rnWe will clearly show how these new catalysts can improve the performance in hydrotreaters compared to our previousrngeneration of BRIM? catalysts. In addition we will discuss how the extra activity can improve the economics ofrnhydrotreating for the refiner.
