The Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) converts a widernrange of feedstocks to transportation fuels, butanes,rnbutylenes, propane and propylene in a cost effective way.rnTraditionally the focus has been the production of a highrnvolume of premium motor gasoline. Due to the stronglyrnincreased demand for middle distillates the FCCU needs torndeliver ever increasing quantities of light cycle oil from itsrnfeedstocks. Commercial operation proves that the highestrnmargin for middle distillate operation is obtained whenrncatalysts featuring the highest accessibility and bottomsrnconversion capability are used in tandem with optimumrnprocess conditions. Albemarle offers a custom tailored, newrnMD (Maximum Distillate) family of catalysts to meet thernrefiner's needs for both gas oil and resid operations.rnFurthermore, these MD catalysts can also be designed tornsimultaneously increase the production of propylene andrnbutylenes. Commercial applications optimizing process andrncatalyst variables with several types of feedstocks will bernpresented.
