In this paper, a procedure for the identification and controlrnof piecewise affine ARX systems is proposed. First,rnthe parameters of the individual subsystems are identifiedrnthrough a least-squares based identification method usingrnmultiple models, followed by the estimation of the partitionrnof the regressor space using standard procedures such asrnneural network classifier or support vector machine classifier.rnHaving obtained the complete model of the piecewisernaffine ARX system, a model predictive controller is thenrnderived to control the system for reference tracking. Simulationrnstudies show that our algorithm can indeed providernaccurate estimates of the plant parameters even in noisyrncases, and that the proposed controller provides good trackingrnperformance.
