Different from traditional video surveillance systems, panoramic video surveillance systems can provide viewers with a 360 degrees omni-directional view. Fish-eye lens give a perspective of large areas. Two images can be mosaicked into a panorama, but there are serious distortions in fish-eye images. In this paper, using a latitude and longitude mapping method to realize the fish-eye image correction, and compared with using spherical coordinates positioning method of correction image, thus distortion correction of fish-eye image is accomplished. According to the minimum luminance difference between overlapping areas of images that are mosaicked, panorama images mosaic based on image fission on the overlapping area are discussed in the paper. Satisfactory correction and mosaic results are obtained.
