The impacts of OCS Mast short-circuit on signal cables in railway yard

At present, railway signal equipment have evolved to electronic, digital direction, the safety of the railway signal equipment is more and more important, also more and more high to its request. Especially the signal equipment in railway yard, it would be a tremendous loss if the signal equipment is damaged in railway yard, what's more it can cause the station communication system paralysis and threat the safety of railway's running. In some big railway yards, due to links up grounding wire lay in the edge of the railway yard, the Overhead Contact System Mast (OCS Mast) can only separate grounding in the middle of the yard. When the OCS Mast get into short-circuit or stroke by lightning, although there are return lines which link with the rail, the ground potential is still high around OCS Mast, so it will bear very heavily on signal cables even break the cables which buried near the OCS Mast. In this article, the model for OCS Mast short-circuit is established through CDEGS simulation software. The relevant data are obtained by simulation, then analyzed the influence of the OCS Mast short-circuit on signal cables, proposes the corresponding solution measures in the end.
