High penetration of renewable energy nowadays makes it necessary to take wind power plants and solar power plants into consideration when calculating dynamic power flow. The paper mainly focuses on the approach to deal with wind turbine in power flow calculation and the power-frequency characteristics of it after attaching it to power system. Firstly, the concept and major steps of dynamic power flow calculation are illustrated. The whole procedure is programmed in Fortran language and ready for case study. By ignoring some negligible variables, the simplified model of wind turbine which considers it as PQ bus is put forward. This model brings convenience to dynamic power flow calculation with wind power and its rationality can be guaranteed to a certain degree. With this model, the power-frequency relationship of wind turbine is obtained through mathematical deduction and the complex static frequency modulation coefficient of wind farm is calculated in order to execute dynamic power flow calculation. In a specific case, IEEE 30-bus system is modified to be used to test the presented algorithm.
