Kanaf fiber mat reinforced composites are usually cured at an elevated temperature and then cooled to ambient conditions.Because of their heterogeneous nature and the very dissimilar expansion-contraction behavior and mechanical properties of the two components thermal stresses are easily generated and can prove troublesome.The effects are exacerbated by thermal cycling, which can occur in a working environment.The aim of the present work is to investigate the effect of thermal fatigue on tensile and bending properties behavior of kenaf fiber mat with unsaturated polyester (UP) resin composites.For this purpose, tensile strength test, low cycle tensile fatigue test and bending tests were performed to the specimens,which have previously been subjected to a certain number of thermal cycles (from + 58 ℃ to-25 ℃).The maximum changes of tensile modulus, flexural modulus were measured and changes of tensile strength, flexural strength were also measured.And different phenomena of low cycle fatigue (LCF) are described graphically after experiencing thermal cycling.Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to monitor the potential changes in the microstructure due to the degradation (if any) caused by the thermal cycles.
