Optimization of long-term modes of hydropower plants of the energy system of Tajikistan

There is a significant number of hydropower plants within the electric power systems of Tajikistan. The article proposes a method of long-term optimization of operating modes of hydropower plants of the power system in Tajikistan. The features of hydropower plants cascade management are highlighted. The description of the HPPs of the Vakhsh cascade and methods of management of the reservoir of hydropower plants in the cascade are given. The optimum modes of operation of reservoirs in HPPs through the efficient redistribution of runoff within the year are presented. The restrictions imposed on the expenditure of water passing through the hydropower plants in accordance with the requirements of the water management complex are analyzed. Taking into account the requirements for completing the conditions of different water content due to an increase in generation of electricity, the method of determining the optimal depth of drawdown of the Nurek reservoir is shown. Economic efficiency of reducing the power deficit in the energy system for long-term optimization is evaluated.
