Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR) is used to reduce the energy consumption in the distribution system. In this paper, CVR is utilized for assessment of substation energy. Optimal capacitors and their locations are identified in order to reduce load connected to a substation. Time-series simulations are performed for optimal scheduling of On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC), and capacitors tap position. Open source simulator, OpenDSS is utilized to perform time-series simulations. Simulations are performed considering the residential, commercial, and industrial type of loads for analyzing substation energy consumption. A comparative study of substation energy and other energies has been presented for various cases. All time series simulations are carried on IEEE-33 bus radial distribution system.
