A compact, triple-band diamond shaped microstrip patch antenna with conductor backed metasurface (CB-MTS)-CPW fed is proposed in this work. This antenna can be utilized for 5G wireless applications such as Internet of Things (IoT) (2.4-2.484) GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ZigBee. Whereas (3.6-4.2) GHz band is used for 5G mobile phones in satellite communication applications, (5.35-5.47) GHz for future mobile broadband applications. The proposed antenna resonates at 2.4 GHz (2.3-2.48) GHz, 3.78 GHz (3.61-4.12) GHz, and 5.42 GHz (5.2-5.6) GHz. The performance assessment of the proposed antenna includes the reflection coefficient (dB), impedance bandwidth (BW), gain (dBi) and radiation efficiency (%). The proposed antenna achieved an average gain of 3.65 dBi in simulation and in measurement 3.57 dBi. A size reduction of 72.7% is obtained when compared to the conventional rectangular patch antenna. The measured results are in coherence with simulated values. The performance of the proposed antenna is compared with the existing triple-band designs reported in the literature.
