Study on variations of growing season for different vegetation types in Xilingol League, China

The growing season of vegetation can provide important ecological information, and is a hot issue in global climate change research. In this paper, we used Asymmetric Gaussian method to reconstruct the NOAA NDVI time series from 1989 to 2008, and then the maximum curvature method was conducted to extract the date of start and end of growing season for each pixel in the range of Xilingol League. We performed linear trend analysis for the start and end of the growing season respectively for 8 types of vegetation in Xilingol League. Our results showed advanced trends in start of growing season and delay trends in end of growing season for all kinds of vegetation from 1989 to 2008, and the length of growing season showed an extended trend for each vegetation type.
