摘要

Recently, a hybrid approach to machine translation systems becomes more attractive and popular in the MT community since one paradigm of MT cannot be a panacea for all problems. However, combining different paradigms to produce an optimal result is less straightforward than first appears. This paper introduces a hybrid MT with a rule-based engine and an example-based engines working in coordination. Also, the issue of how to alternate the example from an example-based engine and rules from a rule-based engine requires a sophisticated control in selection. Thus, this paper describes some problems with combining the two paradigms, and then provides a solution based on the syntactic information of a dependency tree to effectively integrate the examples and rules in a hybrid MT. Experimental results show the validity of our approaches.
