The aspect-oriented research community has presented a rich collection of modeling approaches from both symmetric (all entities are aspects) and asymmetric (object-oriented entities form the base and cross-cutting entities are aspects) perspectives. The approaches are often specialized, covering a limited subset of engineering activities and artifacts. We see the need for a comprehensive, asymmetric approach for modeling and analyzing requirements, architecture, and design artifacts. Here, we explore the problem by selecting and applying a suite of existing asymmetric modeling approaches as an ensemble. The goal is to represent and analyze models using existing aspect-oriented extensions of UML diagrams to gain a deeper understanding of what does and doesn't work well. The application used is an information system with security requirements: an online banking system. The ensemble serves as a prototype to explore the problem from a practitioner's perspective; a common UML extension will be addressed in future work.
