We did a study of how to make use of the advantages of chemical etching, reactive ion etching, and mechanical polishing for the purpose of efficient manufacturing of high frequency quartz oscillators. The result of the study was that a conventional dual-face lapping machine was successively used to make high frequency, plano-convex type quartz oscillators by utilizing the machining material of a single inverted mesa type quartz blank.
