The phenomenon of three-dimensionalrnseparation of the flow over a slender body atrnhigh angles of attack is difficult to model andrnstill challenging problem. The singularity of thernflow is caused by mutual intervention of threedimensionalrnseparation and separated vortices.rnIn this study, the flow in the cross-flowrnseparation region of an axisymmetricrnparaboloid at 40 and 50 deg angle of attack hasrnbeen investigated experimentally by hot wirernanemometer. Reynolds numbers are 9.0×10~3rnand 1.8×10~4 referred to the base diameter. Xtypernprobe was used to measure threerndimensional velocity fluctuations over thernaxisymmetric paraboloid at sampling time ofrn4kHz. It has been shown that the lift-off andrnmergence of vortices can be explained by r.m.s.rndistribution of velocity fluctuations. Reynoldsrnstress and the difference between probabilityrndensity function and normal distributionrnfluctuate where the kink of vortex is observed.
